The MX-5 will work very effectively mounted on the floor under your big screen TV. Keep in mind the MX-5 does not have protective grilles so the voice coil covers could be damaged by little fingers.
AV Receivers and Subwoofers
Almost all AV Receivers we have seen have a subwoofer line level output but not a subwoofer amplifier so you will need an amplifier to drive the subwoofers. Any good Class D amplifier will be good for this job and some Class D amplifiers have a built in soft limiter. Having a built in soft limiter is a bonus and this will help protect your subwoofers from inadvertent damage cause by lots of bass content. Keep in mind that all electronic equipment needs ventilation so make sure your AV Receiver and subwoofer amplifier have adequate ventilation. If you need advice about an amplifier to drive the Krix MX-5 subwoofers, give us a call or drop us an email.
AV Receivers and Output Power
Most AV Receivers will output 100W+ per channel but care should be taken not to drive the LCR (Left-Centre-Right) Modules into distortion or clipping. Clipping is not good for loudspeakers and frequent or continuous clipping will damage your Krix investment. It is a good idea to let us know what AV Receiver you are intending to use, how close you will be sitting to the loudspeakers and the size of the room. We want you to get the best experience from your Krix investment, an investment that will provide listening pleasure for many years to come.
Cables
Any good quality Oxygen Free Copper (OFC) speaker cable will do the job. We just happen to sell the Gotham brand cable but if you want to use another brand, make sure the cable has the current (amperage) capability. Some cable sold in department stores are too thin and do not have enough copper to effectively to the job. If you need any advice, give us a call or drop us an email.
